Kyra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon. She passed her licensing exam last year, and is now a pre-licensed therapist working towards completion of her hours required for licensure. Kyra especially loves working with couples and families, and feels that there is “something about the energy of multiple people in the room.” Kyra specializes in working with new parents and families who have recently welcomed new life into their homes. In addition to helping new parents manage their lifestyle changes, Kyra also focuses on couple communication and infidelity. Her other strengths include working with individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with depression, life-cycle transitions, anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss. Because Kyra feels a sense of commitment and dedication to her community, she finds great enjoyment in meeting new and interesting people, and takes great pride in respecting and welcoming the diversity of the individuals who visit her office. Her core belief is that we are all shaped and influenced by our contexts, which is what makes each and every person unique. Kyra believes that her responsibility is to understand these differences among individuals and work with her clients to meet their goals.

As an empathetic and understanding therapist, Kyra aims to help people form new techniques and develop the tools to make difficult life stages more manageable. Outside of her career in psychology, Kyra runs to stay balanced and positive – sometimes she signs up for races with her husband, but for the most part, running is her “me time.” Since Kyra’s family is very active, she spends quite a bit of time outdoors, and finds outdoor activities to be very energizing. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and children. And, she loves her job! To schedule an appointment with Kyra, please contact our intake coordinator Jennifer Beltz at (541) 868-2004.

A note on pre-licensed therapists: Pre-licensed private pay therapists work exclusively with patients who either do not have insurance or prefer not to involve their insurance company in treatment decisions. Although we do have therapists who take insurance, our therapists that work on a private pay basis provide an alternative to clients with special needs and desires. At Eugene Therapy, we feel that our trained and experienced pre-licensed therapists are extremely valuable because they offer a high quality of service and actually already have years of therapy experience under their belts.
