Tips for Managing Depression

  1. Keep a positive attitude/outlook, even when life throws you a curveball or two. This can be a bit challenging at first, but the more you try, the more you will succeed.

  2. Challenge your negative thoughts; don't let them define who you are. Having negative thoughts is a normal part of life and challenging them can be difficult, but it's important to to not let these thoughts consume you. You are NOT your thoughts.

  3. Make time for the things you enjoy most in life; whether that be spending time with loved ones or taking a day to yourself. Making this time is important for your mental health, especially considering how carried away we can get in our lives.

  4. Eat well-balanced meals. Eating well has positive effects not only on your physical health, but how you feel as well. You'd be surprised how much better you'll feel with a diet that maximizes whole foods and includes as few processed food as possible.

  5. Foster supportive relationships. Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive people can have a profound impact on your life; increasing your mood and overall health.
